About – Italian Agrivoltaic Institute
Our Purpose
The Italian Agrivoltaic Institute was created to provide an authoritative and independent reference point for agrivoltaics in Italy. Our mission is to help farmers, landowners, technicians, institutions, and investors navigate a rapidly evolving field that requires a deep understanding of both agricultural systems and solar-energy technologies. We promote a model where food production and clean-energy generation reinforce one another, supported by solid data and transparent guidance.
Our Roots
The Institute was founded by professionals whose family heritage is rooted in agriculture in Tuscany. This longstanding connection to the land shapes our approach and ensures that agricultural needs remain central. The Institute is also supported by Energypolis.net, the leading energy-focused professional network in Italy, with more than 2,000 active professionals. This combination of agricultural background and technical expertise defines who we are.
What We Offer
Our work integrates scientific knowledge, regulatory clarity, and practical tools. The Crops (go) profiles evaluate how different crops interact with agrivoltaic systems, analyzing compatibility, light sensitivity, microclimate benefits, and agronomic implications. The Experts section (go) provides access to qualified specialists across engineering, agronomy, development, and legal fields, searchable by region and skillset. The Regional Guides (go) deliver updated insights on regulations for agrivoltaics, ground-mounted PV, and industrial-land PV across all Italian regions. A dedicated Q&A section (go) addresses the most common questions on photovoltaics and agrivoltaics with clear, rigorous answers.
Data-Driven Approach
One of our most innovative tools, My Land (go), allows users to analyze their plots automatically through climate and microclimate data. The system identifies typical local crops, assesses agrivoltaic suitability based on site-specific conditions, and maps nearby electrical substations to support early-stage feasibility evaluations. This data-driven method reflects our broader commitment to combining scientific rigor with practical applicability.
Our Vision
We see agrivoltaics as a long-term opportunity for Italy: a way to strengthen farm resilience, support rural economies, and contribute to the national energy transition without compromising landscapes or agricultural identity. The Italian Agrivoltaic Institute is committed to guiding this development with independence, clarity, and a deep respect for the land and those who cultivate it.
